artist Dan Fox last visited Milton Keynes with Welfare State International in
the early 1980s. He returns to create a new work with sculpture, sound and
light to occupy one of Milton Keynes’ porte
cochère street structures for the Feast of Fire celebrations.
Dan will be researching ways to use fire both as a live audio source and as an instrument by amplifying and digitising, and also harnessing the raw energy of fire to control lighting.
Working with local artists, Dan will explore processes including boiling wax, burning wood, quenching metal, and using steam whistles, carbon filaments, multi-channel diffusion and real-time processing, taking three artists forward to work with him to make the final composition and installation.
